Frijid Pink: Defrosted 1970 + Earth Omen 1972 + All Pink Inside 1974 + Frijid Pink, Frijid Pink, Frijid Pink 2011

Defrosted is the second album by the Detroit rock band Frijid Pink. Released in 1970, the album is more blues-based hard rock than its predecessor , yet still contains the characteristic fuzz tone guitar sound featured prominently on the group's first album , Frijid Pink . This is the last album to feature lead vocalist Tom Beaudry (aka:Kelly Green) and lead guitarist Gary Ray Thompson .

Their departure from the group soon followed, fueled by an ego-driven notion that 'they' were Frijid Pink. The band were on the brink of major success at that time, but this breach of contract essentially ruined their chances. The LP reached only #149 on U.S. charts , although the debut one ran for #7 . The track " Sing A Song For A Freedom " also as a single made #55 in the U.S.A. in July 1970.

The band, recently abandoned by their original singer and guitarist, shed their blues-based rock sound and picked up a more progressive rock sound (reminiscent of Uriah Heep), with added psychedelia. This was largely thanks to the addition of singer Jon Wearing, guitarist Craig Webb, and keyboardist Larry Zelanka (Zelanka was only considered a guest on the previous two albums).

FRIJID PINK: FRIJID PINK, FRIJID PINK,FRIJID PINK  2011

A hot new album from these classy American rockers will be good news for all fans of Frijid Pink, a band that first came to fame when they hit with ‘House Of The Rising Sun’ back in 1970. The band was revived in 2006 by original drummer Rick Stevers and now includes Phil McIlvenna (guitar, harmonica and lead vocals), Ricky Houke (lead guitar and lead vocals, Joe Gillis (keyboards) and Brent Austin (bass and vocals).

The revived group revels in the chemistry that only seasoned professionals can produce. Their new album features some old favourites together with a bunch of new tunes well crafted and produced. The Detroit based outfit has honed the material by playing club gigs in Michigan and Ohio recently and so it sounds hotter than ‘frijid’ – so defrost your ears with a blast of Pink noise!
