Είχαν και μία συμμετοχή στη συλλογή της «Cactus Records», «The Rock Propaganda Series».
[http://www.ipolistonkosmo.gr/]

Noir Desir : Tostaky 1992

Noir Désir is a French rock band from Bordeaux. They were active during the 1980s , 1990s and early 2000s , and have had two albums certified double platinum in France and three certified gold .

Bertrand Cantat and Serge Teyssot-Gay met in 1980 at secondary school after Cantat moved to Bordeaux from his hometown in Normandy; Teyssot-Gay was 17 and Cantat was 16 at the time. The two teenagers shared a love of music, particularly Led Zeppelin, The Who, and AC/DC and so they decided to form a band. Tesyssot had a strong musical background and a decade's worth training in classical guitar, however Cantat could not play any instrument at the time, and so became the singer for their band. They met Denis Barthe , during the summer vacation who shared a similar passion for music and he agreed to play drums for the band , although he had never played them before.

The band originally called themselves "Psychoz", then "6.35", "Station Désir" and finally "Noirs Désirs". In 1982 Teyssot-Gay and Leriche left the group to form BAM (Boîte A Musique).

Their first critical and popular success came in 1989, with their album," Veuillez rendre l'âme (à qui elle appartient) ". The album won Noir Désir the Bus d'Acier for 1989, an award given by the press to the best French rock group of the year .

With its harder and more aggressive sound and an almost complete lack of promotion, the third album Du ciment sous les plaines (1991) received lacklustre reviews compared to" Veuillez rendre l'âme (à qui elle appartient) " and no singles were released from it.
In May 1991 a concert in Besançon was cut short after four songs when Bertrand Cantat collapsed on stage.
As a result the band took a break from touring until the release of their next album, Tostaky.

Tostaky was produced in London, a city the group admired for its musical output.

The word "tostaky" is a slang contraction of the Spanish expression "todo está aquí" (everything is here), one of the slogans used by Mexican revolutionaries led by Emiliano Zapata .

In December, 1996 the success of Tostaky was continued with the release of 666.667 Club, which would be certified double platinum a year after its release.[9] In 1998, after receiving a remix of their song "Septembre, en attendant" in the mail, they decided to produce the album One Trip, One Noise which comprised a collection of their songs remixed by young musicians.

In 2003, following an argument about infidelity, Bertrand Cantat, drunk at the time, beat his girlfriend Marie Trintignant, also drunk, multiple times in a hotel room in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following morning Marie Trintignant was found in a coma in her bed and died a few days later.

A post mortem examination showed that she had suffered multiple head injuries.

Cantat admitted to hitting her 4 times, however prosecutors argued that it was in fact 19 times in all. He later alleged she had fallen and hit her head on a radiator, becoming unconscious from this impact, not his blows directly.
On 29 March 2004, a Lithuanian court sentenced Cantat to eight years in prison after he was found guilty of manslaughter. After a year spent in Lukiškės prison of Vilnius, he was moved to a prison near Toulouse, France.

Cantat was freed on parole on October 16, 2007. A condition of his release was that he must receive regular psychological counseling and refrain from public reference to his crime in interviews or in music.

In November 2008 the band released two free tracks on their website, performed by the whole band.

HERE IT COMES SLOWLY

Crawling like a thunder slug
now it smells like a war drug

here it comes slowly
here it comes slowly

deeply burried in the bowels
now it spurts out of the wells

here it comes slowly
here it comes slowly

we can keep that beast away it still lays in its gore
we'll never stand fascism anymore
no way out miracle, just stop it your blood
has your neighbour really understood ?!

we all wallow in dirt
but there's a shadow to hurt
crawling like a thunder slug
now it smells like a war drug
deeply burried in the bowels
now it spurts out of the wells
sad shit flowing to the skin
no one forget what you mean
if it grows up like a death tree
why don't we beat it down here and now

7 MINUTES

between skies and fields
this land in midnight lights
cold summer, cold summer
till the end of time
the earth's like a belly
an heavy sleeping beast
but with her big eyes open
and cities are inside
still standing on the hill
this city's like an ocean
enjoy the metal waves
in which we drown ourselves
don't you breathe anymore
are you far from the next corner ?
your race is burning the pavement
welcome to the city
the city's done for you
yell with the underdogs
make sure they won't bite you

IT SPURTS

Nobody we 'll drag me into this
stinking thoughts i know
you won't never carry it off
even if you're kind with me

get out leave me alone
and have a nice day asshole
i know why you're a pretty cynic shit
that i can't stand anymore
so sorry about that but
i feel like you pick on me boy

get out leave me alone
and have a nice day asshole
listen and see
don't try it with me (x3)
i told you

well you been drinking a lot
and your head's going round
of course you think i'm a
parano ac silly dirty wicked boy
and you're a pain in my aah
so come on stop i fuck you shut up i'll kill you fuck off you always drive me crazy

Get out leave me alone
and have a nice day asshole
listen and see
don't try it with me (x3)
i told you
you don't even know anything true
about my life

poison
explodes
and spurts out of our souls

SOBER

oh lord, hear me please
you have to make me sober
aspirin, come on please
i don't want to suffer

i found one of my socks
under the telephone
i've never asked these bells
to ring in my home
what have i done to my hat?
i had no hat before
something like a tearing's running on my bones

it's allright now
but what an awful night
i'm almost reaching the kitchen
i'll drink water till i die (about yesterday)

yesterday was the time of lavishness
everything 'round me was only loveliness
i was the king but the night was reigning over me
so much excitement but now this pleasure's gone without me

it's allright now
but what an awful night
i'm almost reaching the kitchen
i'll drink water till i die
i'll drink water till i die
i'll drink water till i die
aspirin, come on please
i don't want to suffer
oh lord, hear me please
you have to make me sober
but i don't know what's going on there

Jean Luc Ponty : Enigmatic Ocean 1977

Jean-Luc Ponty is a pioneer and undisputed master of violin in the arena of jazz and rock. He is widely regarded as an innovator who has applied his unique visionary spin that has expanded the vocabulary of modern music.

Ponty was born in a family of classical musicians on September 29, 1942 in Avranches, France. His father taught violin, his mother taught piano.

While still a member of the orchestra in Paris, Ponty picked up a side gig playing clarinet (which his father had taught him) for a college jazz band that regularly performed at local parties. It proved a life-changing jumping-off point. A growing interest in the jazz sounds of Miles Davis and John Coltrane compelled him to take up the tenor saxophone. Fueled by an all-encompassing creative passion, Jean-Luc soon felt the need to express his jazz voice through his main instrument, the violin.

With a powerful sound that eschewed vibrato, Jean-Luc distinguished himself with be-bop era phrasings and a punchy style influenced more by horn players than by anything previously tried on the violin; nobody had heard anything quite like it before.

Ponty's notoriety grew with remarkable leaps and by 1964, at age 22, he released his debut solo album for Philips, Jazz Long Playing.

In 1969, Frank Zappa composed the music for Jean-Luc's solo album King Kong (Blue Note). In 1972, Elton John invited Ponty to contribute to his Honky Chateau #1 hit album . Within a year - at the urging of Zappa and the Mothers of Invention who wanted him to join their tour

Early Atlantic recordings, such as 1976's Aurora and Imaginary Voyage, firmly established him as a figurehead in America's growing jazz-rock movement. He went on to crack the top 40 in 1977 with the Enigmatic Ocean album and again in 1978 with Cosmic Messenger. In 1984, a revolutionary video featuring time lapse images was produced by Louis Schwarzberg for Individual Choice. Along with Herbie Hancock, Ponty became one of the first jazz musicians to have a music video.

Phantom Of The Paradise : O S T : 1974 Brian De Palma Flac & MP3

Phantom of the Paradise is a 1974 American musical film written and directed by Brian De Palma.
The story is a loosely adapted mixture of The Phantom of the Opera, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Faust and also briefly references Frankenstein and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Mix "the Phantom of the Opera" with "Faust" and "the Picture of Dorian Gray", sprinkle it all with 1970's electric glam-rock, Gothic horror and uttermost baroque scenery and costumes. And there you get "Phantom of the Paradise", a picture that has everything to be the perfect cult movie, and would deserve much more attention than its more famous counterpart "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", released one year later.

You can find the OST of Rocky Horror HERE

Whereas "Rocky Horror" remains a farce all the way through, "Phantom of the Paradise" is a real tragedy in the original meaning : the story of a genial but naive musician who gets his work swindled by an evil baby-faced producer who has sold his soul to the Devil.

Besides, "Phantom" is more a film about music or a film with songs in it than a proper musical, and it's better so because the story is really interesting.

Like "Rocky Horror" , " Phantom" is full of parody and incredible gimmicks .

Cast

Paul Williams as Swan /Singing Voice of The Phantom
William Finley as Winslow Leach/The Phantom
Jessica Harper as Phoenix
Gerrit Graham (Raymond Louis Kennedy, singing [uncredited]) as Beef
George Memmoli as Philbin
Archie Hahn], Jeffrey Comanor, Colin Cameron, and Harold Oblong as The Juicy Fruits / The Beach Bums / The Undeads
Rod Serling (uncredited) as Introductory voice

THE STORY

"He sold his soul for rock-n-roll," read the tagline for Brian De Palma's satirical Phantom of the Opera for the '70s rock scene.

After hearing Winslow Leach (William Finley) perform a song from his Faust rock opera, Phil Spector-ish impresario Swan (Paul Williams) decides that Winslow's opera would be the perfect debut attraction for his new rock palace, the Paradise.

Swan steals the music and has Winslow imprisoned -- but not before Winslow meets aspiring songbird Phoenix (Jessica Harper).

Jumping prison, Winslow breaks into Swan's Death Records factory to ruin the recordings, but a record press accident grossly disfigures him.
Winslow then sneaks into the Paradise to sabotage Swan's show, disguising himself as the Phantom.
Swan, however, cuts a deal with the Phantom to finish his cantata; he promises that Phoenix will sing it but then reneges, hiring prissy glam rocker Beef (Gerritt Graham).
Determined to have Phoenix sing, the Phantom soon discovers just how far Swan will go to give the people what they want.

BRIAN DE PALMA

Brian Russell De Palma (born September 11, 1940) is an American film director and writer. In a career spanning over forty years, he is probably best known for his suspense and thriller films, including such box office successes as Carrie, Dressed to Kill, Scarface, Carlito's Way, The Untouchables, and Mission: Impossible.

De Palma's films can fall into two categories :
His psychological thrillers (Sisters, Obsession, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out, Raising Cain) and
His other commercial films (Scarface, The Untouchables, Carlito's Way, and Mission: Impossible).
He has often produced "De Palma" films one after the other before going on to direct a different genre, but would always return to his familiar territory.

Because of their subject matter and graphic violence De Palma's films (Dressed to Kill, Scarface, Body Double) are often at the center of controversy with the Motion Picture Association of America, film critics and the viewing public.

De Palma is known for quoting and referencing other director's work throughout his career. Michelangelo Antonioni's Blowup and Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation plots were used for the basis of Blow Out.
The Untouchables' finale shoot out in the train station is a clear borrow from the Odessa Steps sequence in Sergei Eisenstein's The Battleship Potemkin. The main plot from Rear Window was used for Body Double while Vertigo was used as the basis for Obsession. Dressed to Kill was a note-for-note homage to Hitchcock's Psycho, including such moments as the surprise death of the lead actress and the exposition scene by the psychiatrist at the end.

Paul Williams

( The Songwriter of The Phantom Of Paradise )

Paul Hamilton Williams, Jr. (born September 19, 1940) is an American musician, composer, songwriter, and actor.

Williams is responsible for a number of enduring pop hits from the 1970s, including a number of hits for Three Dog Night (including An Old Fashioned Love Song, "The Family of Man", and "Out in the Country"), Helen Reddy ("You and Me Against the World"), and The Carpenters, most notably "Rainy Days and Mondays," "I Won't Last a Day Without You," and "We've Only Just Begun", which has since become a cover-band standard and de rigueur for weddings throughout North America. An early collaboration with Roger Nichols, "Someday Man", was covered by The Monkees (a group for which he auditioned but was not cast) on a 1969 single, and was the first Monkees' release not published by Screen Gems.

A frequent cowriter of Williams was musician Kenneth Ascher; their songs together included the popular children's favorite "The Rainbow Connection", sung by Kermit the Frog in The Muppet Movie.
Williams also collaborated with Biff Rose, notably on the song "Fill Your Heart", originally recorded by Tiny Tim as the B-side of his 1968 hit "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" and subsequently covered by David Bowie on his album Hunky Dory. Most recently, he collaborated with Scissor Sisters on their second album, Ta-Dah.

LYRICS

1 . GOODBYE , EDDIE , GOODBYE

(Lyrics & Music Paul Williams) Performed by : THE JUICE FRUITS . Lead vocal : Archie Hahn

We'll remember you forever Eddie
Thru' the sacrifice you made we can't believe the price you paid
For love

Little Eddie Mitty born in Jersey City
Started singin' when he was five
Never knew his father mother didn't bother
To catch his last name fast as he came

He was off and flying
Times were really trying
Eddie and his mother alone
Soon another mister soon a baby sister
Mama kept swingin' and Eddie kept singin'

Ah ya ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya for love for love

And now the tragic story
Eddie's sister, Mary Louise, needed an operation
To get the money he would have to become an overnight sensation
Eddie believed the American people
Had wonderful, lovegiving hearts
His well publicized end he considered would send
His memorial album to the top of the charts... and it did

Chorus
Ah ya ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya for love for love
When a young singer dies to our shock and surprise
In a plane crash or flashy sports car
He becomes quite well known
And the kindness he's shown has made more than one post mortem star
Well you did it Eddie and though it's hard to applaud suicide
You gave all you could give so your sister could live
All America's choked up inside

We'll remember you forever Eddie
Thru' the sacrifice you made we can't believe the price you paid
For love

2 .FAUST

Vocals : Bill Finley

I was not myself last night
Couldn't set things right
With apologies or flowers
Out of place as a cryin' clown
Who could only frown
And the play went on for hours
And as I lived my role
I swore I'd sell my soul
For one love who would stand by me
And give me back the gift of laughter
One love who would stand by me
And after making love we'd...

Dream a bit of style
We'd dream a bunch of friends
Dream each others smile
And dream it never ends

I was not myself last night
In the morning light
I could see the change was showing
Like a child who was always poor
Reaching out for more
I could feel the hunger growing
And as I lost control
I swore I'd sell my soul
For one love who would sing my song
And fill this emptiness inside me
One love who would sing my song
And lay beside me while we'd...

Dream a bit of style
We'd dream a bunch of friends
Dream each others smile
And dream it never ends

All my dreams are lost and I can't sleep
And sleep alone could ease my mind
All my tears have dried and I can't weep
Old emotions
May they rest in peace and dream
Dream a bunch of friends - rest in peace
And dream, dream it never ends

3 . UPHOLSTERY

Performed : By The BeachBums - Lead Vocal : Jeffrey Comanor

Carburetors man, that's what life is all about
That's what life is all about
That’s what life is all about
That's what life is all about
That’s what life is all about

I was not myself last night
Lost a fight, my woody barely running
By a dude I should have beat
And on the street a blow like that is stunning

I finally lost control
And tore my tuck-n-roll
Upholstery - Where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about
Upholstery where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about

Of all life's mysteries the greatest one I've seen
My short runs better when it's clean

I was not myself last night
Ran a light without my registration
Where the cops were bound to see
And you know me already on probation
I wound up on parole
I tore my tuck-n-roll
Upholstery - Where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about
Upholstery where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about

4 . SPECIAL TO ME

(Phoenix Audition Song) Vocal : Jessica Harper

Caught up in your wheelin' dealin'
You've got no time left for simple feelin'
I thought I knew you but I didn't know you at all
Trapped inside your world of worry
You miss so much when you always hurry
Well slow down baby
You'll only get hurt if you fall

Well you told me one time that you'd be somebody
That you weren't workin' just to survive
But you're workin' so hard
That you don't even know you're alive
Workin' so hard to be somebody special
Not working just to survive
Well you're special to me babe
But what I don't see babe
Is where you go once you arrive?
Where we go once we arrive

Damn all evil that takes possession
Until your pipe dreams become obsessions
They scare me baby
And we should have nothing to fear
I'm no child
But I can't help wonder
It seems like some kind of spell you're under
You're listenin' baby
But somehow you don't really hear

Well you told me one time that you'd be somebody
That you weren't workin' just to survive
But you're workin' so hard
That you don't even know you're alive
Workin' so hard to be somebody special
Not working just to survive
Well you're special to me babe
But what I don't see babe is
Where you go once you arrive
Where we go once we arrive

5 . PHANTOM'S THEME
(Beauty and the Beast)

Vocal : Paul Williams

Half asleep I
Hear a voice
Is it only in my mind?
Or is it someone
Calling me
Someone I failed and left behind?

To
Work it out I let them in
All the good guys and the bad guys
That I've been
All the devils that disturbed me
And
The angels that defeated them somehow
Come together in me
Now

Face to face I greet the cast
Set in silence we
Begin
Companions in an empty room
I taste their victory
And sin

To work it out I let them in
All the good
Guys and the bad guys that I've been
All the devils
That disturbed me
And the angels that defeated them
Somehow
Come together in me now

A tale of beauty
And the beast
I defend my soul from those who would accuse
Me
I share the famine and the feast
I have been the
World and felt it turning
Seen the jester yearning to amuse
Me

Like a circus on parade
Seldom close enough to
See
I wander through an angry crowd
And wonder what
Became of me

To work it out I let them in
All the
Good guys and the bad guys that I've been
All the
Devils that disturbed me
And the angels that defeated them
Somehow
Come together in me now

6 . SOMEBODY SUPER LIKE YOU
( Beef Construction Song )

Performed by : THE UNDEAD - Lead Vocal : Harold Oblong

We need a man that is simple perfection
There's nothing that's harder to find
Someone to lead us protect us and feed us
And help us to make up our minds
We need a man that's sophisticated
Quiet and strong and well educated

Where to go what to do
Could it be somebody super like you

We need a man that can stand as a symbol
And symbols have got to be tall
Someone with taste and the tiniest waist
With his help would not life be a ball
If we had fun he would not restrain us
If we got caught he would just explain us

Where to go what to do
Could it be somebody super like you

We pledge allegiance to his
Gracefulness and charming manners
With a voice that's both sides choice
He'll bring us to our knees in admiration
He is king of all who see and hear his perfect pitch
And more surprises when his time is come a stallion rises

We need a man with a head on his shoulders
A nose that is simply divine
Hollywood smile and a perfect profile
And with eyes that would sparkle and shine
Long flowing hair for a crowning glory
There'd be a man who could tell our story

Where to go what to do
Could it be somebody super like you

We pledge allegiance to his
Gracefulness and charming manners
With a voice that's both sides choice
He'll bring us to our knees in admiration
He is king of all who see and hear his perfect pitch
And more surprises when his time is come a stallion rises
Rises... rises... rises

7 . LIFE AT LAST

Lead Vocal : By Ray Kennedy

Life At Last
Life at last!
Salutations from the other side
I can see that you're the devil's pride
Do you realize that all of you donated
Something horrible you hated that is part of you
I'm your nightmare comin' true
I am your crime!

Life at last!
Sit and listen while the fun begins
Hearts are broken and the bad guys win
Sit and listen all the cutting up is easy
And this isn't for the queasy or the weak of heart
You had better start for home
While there's still time!

I'm the evil that you created
Gettin' horny and damned frustrated
Bored stiff and I want me a woman now

I'm the evil that you created
Gettin' horny and damned frustrated
Each of you must stop and try me
All of you might satisfy me

8 . OLD SOULS

Vocal : Jessica Harper

Our love, is an old love baby
is older than all of our years
I had seen in strange young eyes
familiar tears

We're old souls, in a new life baby
they gave us a new life to live and learn
some time to touch old friends and still return

Our paths have corssed and parted, this love
affair was started long... long ago
this love survives the ages
in its story lives are pages... fill them up
may ours turn slow
oh oh oh

Our love is a strong , love baby
we give it all and still receive
and so in empty arms
we must still believe

Old souls last forever
so we need never fear a goodbye
A kiss when i must go
no tears.....
in time, we kiss....... Hello!

10 . THE HELL OF IT

Vocal : By Paul Williams

Roll on thunder, shine on lightning
The days are long and the nights are frightenin'
Nothing matters anyway,
And that's the hell of it.

Winter comes and the winds blew colder
While some grew wiser, you just grew older
And you never listened anyway,
And that's the hell of it.

Good for nothing, bad in bed
Nobody likes you and you're better off dead
Goodbye, we've all come to say goodbye (goodbye)
Goodbye (goodbye)
Born defeated, died in vain
Super-destructive, you were hooked on pain
Though your music lingers on
All of us are glad you're gone

If I could live my life half as worthlessly as you
I'm convinced that I'd wind up burning too.

Love yourself as you loved no other
Be no man's fool and be no man's brother
We're all born to die alone, you know, that's the hell of it.

Life's a game where they're bound to beat you
And time's a trick it can turn to cheat you
And we only waste it anyway,
And that's the hell of it.

Good for nothing, bad in bed
Nobody liked you and you're better off dead
Goodbye, we've all come to say goodbye (goodbye)
Goodbye (goodbye)
Born defeated, died in vain
Super-destructive, you were hooked on pain
And though your music lingers on
All of us are glad you're gone
