Air : 10000 Hz Legend 2001

Air is a French music duo from Versailles, France, consisting of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel.

After making several remixes for other acts in the first half of the 1990s, Air recorded its first EP, Premiers Symptomes, in 1995. The band released its first album, Moon Safari, in 1998.

The first single, "Sexy Boy", was heavily played on alternative radio stations. The album received universal acclaim and became an international success.

In 2000, Air composed the score The Virgin Suicides to Sofia Coppola's debut film of the same name. In the 2000s, Dunckel & Godin released four studio albums, including 10 000 Hz Legend (2001), Talkie Walkie (2004), Pocket Symphony (2007) and Love 2 (2009).

10 000 Hz Legend is the second studio album by French music duo Air, released in France on 28 May 2001 by Virgin Records and in the United States on 29 May 2001 by Astralwerks. On this album, tracks are longer and more electronic-oriented than on their previous records.

These experimentations find the duo expanding their capacities and working with other artists including Beck and suGar Yoshinaga of Buffalo Daughter.

10 000 Hz Legend received generally favorable reviews from critics. Most reviewers focused on the group's departure from the sound of 1998's Moon Safari, although the soundtrack album The Virgin Suicides (2000) had a similar mood and sound.

Q listed 10 000 Hz Legend as one of the 50 best albums of 2001.

THE VAGABOND LYRICS

Golden waves
In all directions
I could lose my soul right here
Color lights
On the runway
Makes a stranger feel unchained
I'm running after time and I miss the sunshine
Summer days will come happiness will be mine

I'm lost in my words I don't know where I'm going
I do the best I can not to worry about things
I feel loose
I feel haggard
Don't know what I'm looking for
Something true
Something lovely
That will make me feel alive

I'm running after time and I miss the sunshine

Summer days will come happiness will be mine
I'm lost in my words I don't know where I'm going
I do the best I can not to worry about things
Like a vagabond through the distance
Looking for a song to sing
A song that lasts all night
And for the rest of our life's
I'm lost in my words I don't know where I'm going
...

The Brian Jonestown Massacre : Their Satanic Majesties΄ Second Request 1996

The Brian Jonestown Massacre is an American musical project and band led by Anton Newcombe. It was formed in San Francisco in 1990.

The group was the subject of the 2004 documentary film Dig!, and have gained media notoriety for their tumultuous working relationships as well as the erratic behavior of Newcombe. The collective has released seventeen albums, five compilation albums, five live albums, thirteen EPs, sixteen singles as well as two various-artist compilation albums to date.

The bandname is a portmanteau of deceased Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones and the 1978 Jonestown Massacre.

Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request is the fourth studio album by American psychedelic rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It was released on June 18, 1996 by record label Tangible and distributed by Bomp! Records, and is the second of three full-length albums released by the band that year.

The album's title and music is influenced by The Rolling Stones' 1967 album Their Satanic Majesties Request.

Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request reveals vast experimentation with Indian drones, sitars, mellotrons, farfisas, didgeridoos, tablas, congas, and glockenspiels. Following in the footsteps of Keith Richards and Brian Jones, BJM capture and explore the psychedelic rock sound of the late 1960s.

The opening track, All Around You (Intro), pays tribute to the showmanship of the Stones, calling one and all to the psychedelic trip that they are about to experience.

Opening with the brilliant "All Around You (Intro)," a tongue-in-cheek guide to the mind-altering journey ahead, the record is a kaleidoscopic, drug-fueled freakout -- like the Stones' namesake album, Second Request is painted by Eastern drones and psychedelic tangents, each track bubbling with dozens of sound effects including sitars, mellotrons, farfisas, didgeridoos, tablas, congas, and glockenspiels.

Travelling through the past, darkly, the Massacre arrives on the other side unscathed; their music is too rich to be merely retro, and too knowing to be merely slavish -- the Stones themselves haven't made a record this strong or entertaining in years.

The song "Donovan Said" is itself a tribute to Donovan's "The Fat Angel", mimicking the vocal patterns of the verse at about a 3/4's of the speed.

Suicide : Suicide 1977

Suicide was an American musical duo intermittently active between 1970 and 2016, composed of vocalist Alan Vega and instrumentalist Martin Rev. The group's pioneering music utilized minimalist electronic instrumentation, including synthesizers and primitive drum machines, and their early performances were confrontational and often ended in violence. They were among the first acts to use the phrase "punk music" in an advertisement for a concert in 1970.

Suicide took its name from the title of a Ghost Rider comic book titled Satan Suicide, a favorite of Alan Vega. Rev's simple keyboard riffs (initially played on a battered Farfisa organ combined with effects units, before changing to a synthesizer) were accompanied by primitive drum machines, providing a pulsing, minimalistic, electronic backdrop for Vega's murmuring and nervy vocals. It was the first band to use the term punk to describe itself, which the band had adopted from an article by Lester Bangs. Some of the band's earliest posters use the terms punk music and punk music mass.

The band's first album, Suicide (1977), was released independently on Red Star Records.
Suicide's albums of the late 1970s and early 1980s have now become regarded as some of the most influential recordings of their time and helped shape the direction of indie rock, industrial music, and dance music.

Suicide is the debut album from the American rock band Suicide. It was released in 1977 on Red Star Records and produced by Craig Leon and Marty Thau. The album was recorded in four days at Ultima Sound Studios in New York and featured Martin Rev's minimalist electronics and harsh, repetitive rhythms paired with Alan Vega's rock and roll-inspired vocals and depictions of urban life.

Proof that punk was more about attitude than a raw, guitar-driven sound, Suicide's self-titled debut set the duo apart from the rest of the style's self-proclaimed outsiders. Over the course of seven songs, Martin Rev's dense, unnerving electronics including a menacing synth bass, a drum machine that sounds like an idling motorcycle, and harshly hypnotic organs and Alan Vega's ghostly, Gene Vincent-esque vocals defined the group's sound and provided the blueprints for post-punk, synth pop, and industrial rock in the process.

The album is listed as one of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. The album also influenced artists in various genres including Bruce Springsteen, the Fleshtones, Spacemen 3, and Peaches.

The Gun Club : Fire Of Love 1981

The Gun Club were a highly influential post-punk/ blues band from Los Angeles, California that existed from 1979 to 1996.

Jeffrey Lee Pierce (June 27, 1958 – March 31, 1996) was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and author. He was one of the founding members of the band The Gun Club, and also released material as a solo artist.

The Gun Club's debut is the watermark for all post-punk roots music. This features the late Jeffrey Lee Pierce's swamped-out brand of roiling rock, swaggerific hell-bound blues, and gothic country. With Pierce's wailing high lonesome slide guitar twinned with Ward Dotson's spine-shaking riffs and the solid yet off-the-rails rhythm section of bassist Rob Ritter and drummer Terry Graham, the Gun Club burst out of L.A. in the early '80s with a bone to pick and a mountain to move -- and they accomplished both on their debut album. With awesome, stripped to the frame production by the Flesh Eaters' Chris D., Fire of Love blew away all expectations -- and with good reason.

Nobody has heard music like this before or since.

Fire of Love is the debut album of the American punk band the Gun Club, released in 1981 on Ruby Records.

The Flesh Eaters' singer Chris D. produced five tracks on the album ("Sex Beat", "Preaching the Blues", "Fire Spirit", "Ghost on the Highway" and "Jack on Fire") at Quad Teck with Pat Burnette engineering. Tito Larriva produced the album's other six tracks at Studio America with Noah Shark engineering.

Chris D. was also credited with the cover design for the original release. Judith Bell was responsible for the bottle label illustrations on the rear of the cover. The album is considered groundbreaking in being the first of its kind to combine the hard, stripped-down sound of punk rock with American roots music. In turn, this innovation helped to create the punk blues style as well as inspiring countless garage rock musicians. Several musicians have cited Fire of Love as an influence.

The album was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
The songs become rock & roll ciphers, erasing themselves as soon as they speak, heading off into the whirlwind of a storm that is so big, so black, and so awful one cannot meditate on anything but its power. Fire of Love may be just what the doctor ordered, but to cure or kill is anybody's guess.

SHE'S LIKE HEROIN TO ME  LYRICS

I cannot get a look at it
So I'm burning them on the deal anyway
I see her come down from the top of the stairs
I guess that I'd be cool but there's a tickle in my veins
I've been a real good tombstone but now I'm blowing away
She is like an eye-blue swimming pool
But she will never know that she is there
We sit together, drunk like our fathers used to be
I'm looking up and God is saying, "What are you gonna do?"
I'm looking up and I'm crying, "I thought it was up to you"
She's like heroin to me
She's like heroin to me
She's like heroin to me
She cannot miss a vein
Don't let her take her love to town
They will never fill her heart
She needs a passion like her fathers used to be
I know because I'm like the train shooting down the mainline
I know…
