V.A : Punk O Rama Vol: 2 1996

Punk-O-Rama Vol. 2 is the second compilation in the Punk-O-Rama series. This was the first entry to be released at a low price, so that it was more appealing for someone to buy to check out Epitaph's artists. All of the songs were previously released with the exception of DFL's "Thought Control". Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' cover of Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young" made its CD debut here, as it was previously only available on Billy, a vinyl single released by the band.

Descendents : Coffee Mug (from Everything Sucks) 0:34 We're pleased to annouce that the Descendents will be playing the Groezrock Festival in Belgium on April 23rd, 2011 as well as Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, UK on April 25th, 2011. Stay tuned for a couple more dates. Also, we are not planning any "secret" shows. So, if you hear a rumour that the Descendents are playing a secret show... We're not. Due to the limited show schedule we're on now, we would like to make sure that ALL of our fans that want to see us, get as much notice as possible. 2. Pennywise : Perfect People (from About Time) 3:03 Pennywise were one of the key bands of the punk revival of the '90s. Using California hardcore as a foundation, the group incorporated funk-metal and skatepunk into its sound, developing a sound that functioned as edgy, post-punk frat rock -- it was speedy and occasionally stupidly catchy, with heavy, propulsive rhythms and positive, optimistic lyrics that stood in pointed contrast to their grunge-addled peers. 3. Pulley : Cashed In (from Esteem Driven Engine) 2:13 4. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes : Only the Good Die Young (from Have Another Ball) 2:48 5. The Humpers : Mutate With Me (from Plastique Valentine) 2:12 6. Rancid : Sidekick (from Let's Go) 2:01 Rancid, is an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California formed in 1991. Founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, both of whom previously played in the influential ska punk band Operation Ivy, Rancid is credited (along with The Offspring and Green Day) with helping to revive mainstream popular interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Unlike the other bands mentioned above, however, Rancid remained signed to an independent label and continued to play much more classic sounding and political music, most of which was connected to their underground roots. Rancid's songs reflect their advocacy for left-wing politics, social and racial equality, near-religious indie and DIY ethics, and discontent with punk elitism. Despite the fact that Rancid only experienced sizeable mainstream success during the mid-90s, they have gone onto become one of the most influential punk bands of all time. 7. Millencolin : Bullion (from Life on a Plate) 2:00 8. Voodoo Glow Skulls : El Coo Cooi (from Firme) 2:37 9. The Joykiller : Hate (from Static) 2:08 10. TSOL : Code Blue (from Who's Screwin' Who?) 2:08 11. NOFX : Whatever Didi Wants (from Heavy Petting Zoo) 3:01 NOFX (pronounced no-ef-ex) is an American punk rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1983 in Los Angeles. The band was formed by vocalist and bassist Fat Mike and guitarist Eric Melvin. Drummer Erik Sandin joined them shortly afterward. In 1991 El Hefe joined to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up. The band rose to popularity in 1994 with their album Punk in Drublic which was certified gold, and is now considered a classic punk album by fans and critics alike. 12. Down By Law : Gruesome Gary (from All Scratched Up) 3:02 13. Poison Idea : Just to Get Away (from Feel the Darkness) 2:30 14. DFL : Thought Control (from Home is Where the Heart Is) 2:18 15. SNFU : Don't Have the Cow (from FYULABA) 2:38 16. Bad Religion : Give You Nothing (from Suffer) 2:00 Out of all of the Southern Californian hardcore punk bands of the early '80s, Bad Religion stayed around the longest. For over a decade, they retained their underground credibility without turning out a series of indistinguishable records that all sound the same. Instead, the band refined their attack, adding inflections of psychedelia, heavy metal, and hard rock along the way, as well as a considerable dose of melody. Between their 1982 debut and their first major-label record, 1993's Recipe for Hate, Bad Religion stayed vital in the hardcore community by tightening their musical execution and keeping their lyrics complex and righteously angry. 17. New Bomb Turks : Jukebox Lean (from Scared Straight) 2:36
