Died Pretty: Pre Deity 1999

Died Pretty (sometimes The Died Pretty) was an Australian indie rock band. They formed in Sydney in early 1984 and achieved moderate success in their home country and recorded nine full-length albums before they parted ways in 2002, however the band still regularly perform reunion concerts.
                                                

At a time when Australian rock meant pub rock and every other band sounded like Cold Chisel, Died

Pretty were something of an anomaly. Influenced more by the Velvet Underground, the Stooges, and the Doors than they were by early Icehouse, Died Pretty spent most of the '80s and '90s struggling for recognition and finding it only in Europe. Diminutive singer Ron Peno channeled Iggy Pop and Jim Morrison in equal measure, whirling dangerously while on-stage.  
                                             

Compiling the contents of the original Died Pretty EP and Next to Nothing, this makes a perfect introduction to the band's early days, seven songs of roots/garage-inspired rock efforts.
