Paul Roland : Confessions of an Opium Eater 1988

Born 1959 in Kent, England .
‘England’s psych-pop guru’, must surely qualify as unique amongst cult independent recording artists. Not only is his quintessentially English music alive with 19th century literary references and characters that would not be out of place in the pages of writers as Edgar Allan Poe, Peake, Charles Dickens, H.G. Wells or H.P. Lovecraft, but he is also a serious literary figure in his own right. His preoccupation with the supernatural takes an often whimsical slant in his lyrics. The fanciful and macabre subject matter of Roland’s songs and the baroque styled instrumentation he favours are no doubt partly the reason why he has not achieved the popularity of his contemporaries such as Robyn Hitchcock (who called Roland ‘the male Kate Bush’), but his distinctive style has ensured a loyal cult following in Europe if not in England.

This is a sophisticated musical project of great 70' s musicians , released in 1976 , by Virgin Records , in the middle of the Punk Era .

 801 provided Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera with one of his most intriguing side projects. Although the band only played three gigs in August and September 1976, this album captures a night when everything fell right into place musically. That should only be expected with names like Eno and Simon Phillips in the lineup. (Still, the lesser-known players -- bassist Bill MacCormick, keyboardist Francis Monkman, and slide guitarist Lloyd Watson -- are in exemplary form, too.) The repertoire is boldly diverse, opening with "Lagrima," a crunchy solo guitar piece from Manzanera.

801 Live @ Hull  released throughThe Phil Manzanera Archives in 2000, is a must have for 801 and Phil Manzanera fans and collectors, but please don't expect the amazing sound quality of the first "801 Live" release. This is an "Archive" release and what it's lacking in sound quality compared to the 1st "801 Live" , it makes up for with a great selection of songs and considering how many live 801 recordings there are, this should be a welcome edition to any fans collection

Fans of the original 801 Live album will know and love the songs found here. This was recorded during

the famous 1977 tour and features a number of songs found on that classic recording. Of course, Eno is not here and the same excitement and tight playing are not found. However, this is still a very good album. Manzanera released this in 2000 as part of his Archive Series and intended it for fans or collectors. However, this album is a great example of late-'70s prog/art rock. Yes, the long-drawn-out guitar solos are here, but these are interesting, melodic solos; they fit the songs and actually add a great deal. The music is a great cross section of Manzanera's pre-1977 history. Roxy Music is represented here, with a blistering version of "Out of the Blue" featuring Eddie Jobson that is brilliant, with a great

violin solo and wonderful arrangements. Also here is some of Manzanera's best solo material, including the brilliant "Diamond Head." Also worth note is the 801 take on "Tomorrow Never Knows" known here as "TNK", sounding eerie and frightening with atmospheric vocals. The sound quality is not the best, but it is lacking the typical overdubs so often found on live recordings, and for that reason it is worth extra points. This really is a treasure for Manzanera fans, but others might find something of interest here as well.

Mudhoney is an American grunge band. Formed in Seattle, Washington in 1988 following the demise of Green River, Mudhoney has for the most of its recording career consisted of Mark Arm (vocals, rhythm guitar), Steve Turner (lead guitar), Matt Lukin (bass) and Dan Peters (drums). Mudhoney's early releases on Sub Pop—the "Touch Me I'm Sick" single and the Superfuzz Bigmuff EP—were very influential in the Seattle music scene, and helped inspire the dirty, high-distortion sound that would characterize grunge.

To 1995 [1994 σύμφωνα με το site anexartisi.gr δες εδώ] κυκλοφορούν σαν τρίο αυτό εδώ το EP με 4 συνθέσεις από την Fifth Dimension Records.
Πάντα μου άρεσε που έγραφαν στην ετικέτα του δίσκου "επιτρέπεται η αντιγραφή - δημόσια εκτέλεση και ραδιοεκπομπή της ηχογράφησης για την δική σας ευχαρίστηση".
Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει το 1993 την demo κασέτα "Ενόραση" και έχουν συμμετοχές σε πολλές άλλες κασετοσυλογές [ δες anexartisi.gr όπως πάνω].

Hugo Race is an Australian rock musician and record producer who has been based in Europe since 1989. He was a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, before forming The Wreckery with Nick Barker and Robin Casinader in the 1980s. He is currently a member of Hugo Race and the True Spirit.
Melbourne-born multi-instrumentalist, producer, performer and songwriter Hugo Race is an eclectic and prolific artist who has lived and worked in the USA, UK, France, Germany and Italy since 1988. He was a founding member of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds (1983), with whom he started working in the terminal stages of the legendary Birthday Party (he appears on five CDs of the Seed's catalogue). In Melbourne he founded The Wreckery (1985) who went on to become one of Australia's seminal cult bands of the 80s, releasing with the White, Rampant, and Citadel labels.

They started in the late eighties.
This mini Lp is their second release , after Zalion [1988 Pegasus R.] After Evi Hassapidou-Watson [vocals] left the band to form her own band, Echo Tattoo , the other members recorded and released this mini lp . Sounds more like r'n' blues with a bit of soul , not like the psychedelic sound of their first Lp.
In 2008 they released their new album "Home in the sky"

Άσχετο , αλλά πριν από λίγο διάβασα μια φοβερή παρουσίαση του δίσκου αυτού στο blog του
Πανολεθρίαμβου και θυμήθηκα μετά από χρόνια τον δίσκο αυτό , τον είχα τόσο καιρό στην άκρη ξεχασμένο...γιατί θα ρωτήσει κάποιος , λοιπόν έγινε το εξής παράδοξο , όταν τον είχα αγοράσει , δεν θυμάμαι από που , είχε μέσα δύο φορές τον πρώτο δίσκο [είναι διπλό album] δηλαδή έχω αντί δίσκος 1 και δίσκος 2 τον δίσκο 1 δύο φορές , πράγμα που σημαίνει ότι κάποιος/α τον έχει με το δεύτερο δίσκο δύο φορές ελπίζω τουλάχιστον , αν ο ιδιοκτήτης του τυχαίνει και διαβάζει τώρα , θα χαρώ πολύ να ανταλλάξουμε δίσκους...

Πλάκα θά'χει αυτό μετά από τόσα χρόνια.
το album είναι Ιταλικό στην Base Records , και είχε κυκλοφορήσει και Ελληνικός μονός όμως , νομίζω σε επιλογή Γιάννη Πετρίδη , και θυμήθηκα τώρα άλλη φοβερή Statik συλλογή του Μαλαθρώνα ήταν ; με Birthday Party , New Age Steppes , TC Matic και άλλα την οποία και θα ανεβάσω προσεχώς...

Aphrodite's Child was a Greek progressive rock band formed in 1967, by Vangelis Papathanassiou (keyboards, flutes), Demis Roussos (bass, acoustic and electric guitar, vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals), and Silver Koulouris (guitar). They initially found success in Europe with hit singles like "Rain and Tears", "End of the World", "I Want to Live", and "It's Five O'Clock". The band's career ended shortly after release of their most influential album, 666 (1972), which has appeared on a number of lists of the top progressive or psychedelic albums of all time.

The Vapors were a new wave and power pop band from England, that existed between 1979 and 1981. They had a hit with the song "Turning Japanese" in 1980, which reached #3 in the UK Singles Chart, and #36 in the corresponding U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Vapors was formed around vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Dave Fenton, an ex solicitor. Other members were ex-hospital porter Edward Bazagette on lead guitar, ex-Sainsbury's man Howard Smith on drums and Steve Smith on bass (no relation).

Οι Illusion Fades σχηματίστηκαν το 1990 στην Αθήνα. Θεωρούνται, πλέον, ως ένα από τα πιο γνωστά συγκροτήματα του gothic rock στην Ελλάδα, αν όχι το γνωστότερο. Από τη σύνθεσή τους έχουν περάσει πολλοί μουσικοί και ο καθένας από αυτούς έχει συνεισφέρει με το δικό του τρόπο σε αυτή τη μακρόχρονη πορεία τους. Τουλάχιστον αυτό πιστεύει ο τραγουδιστής Γιώργος Δέδες, ιδρυτικό μέλος και βασική κινητήρια δύναμη των Illusion Fades, που θεωρεί τα τραγούδια τους ως κατάθεση ψυχής και μέσο για την αναζήτηση ενός τρόπου ζωής. Παρότι έχουν δεδομένους ηχητικούς προσανατολισμούς δεν στοχεύουν αποκλειστικά στο συγκεκριμένο κοινό αλλά ευελπιστούν να αγγίξουν κάθε άνθρωπο που έχει τη διάθεση να ανοιχτεί σε καινούργια ακούσματα, μακριά από κάθε είδους στερεότυπα και περιορισμούς.

The Illusion Fades were formed in Athens in 1990.
Up until today they are the most well-known group with a gothic rock, metal guitar sound in Greece. From time to time many members have come and gone within the band and all in their own way have contributed in the group's long path.
Basically,the songs of the Illusion Fades are a deposition of one's soul.Personal feelings or the search for the way of life are interpreted into sounds and words. The Illusion Fades do not aim their direction only towards one specific group of people who are under a stereotype label but towards every human soul which is drawn to what one hears and can express oneself through this.
Giorgos Dedes and Giannis Nousios formed the band in 1990 , but only when Manolis Aggelakes
came along they started playing live, and in 1992 Wipe Out issued their first song
