Sonic Jesus is an Italian band born in Doganella di Ninfa,ls currently Tiziano Veronese's musical
project. Over the years, the band has performed live throughout Europe, sharing the stage with artists such as Jesus & Mary Chain, Damo Suzuki(CAN), A Place to Bury Stranger,Wire and Dead Skeletons. Shortly after getting together in 2012, the Italian band released their first self-titled 10" EP and almost immediately sold-out, followed by their mind-blowing London live debut at The Shacklewell Arms. Since then, they have taken part in the Reverb Conspiracy compilation (curated by Fuzz Club and
Austin Psych Fest) twice and toured intensively around Europe. They have been remixed by Sonic Boom aka Peter Kember, shared stage with Damo Suzuki and collaborated with iconic Icelandic artist Jón Sæmundur aka Nonni Dead of Dead Skeletons, who did the cover art for the EP and joined them on stage at Eindhoven Psych Lab 2014.
Since their debut, they have been acclaimed internationally, thanks to the release of their first EP, "Sonic
Jesus," on Fuzz Club Records. In 2012, they shared a split titled "Split Single N°5" with the Black Angels. In 2015, they released a limited edition 7" vinyl containing a remix by Sonic Boom aka Pete Kember of the legendary Spacemen 3 and Spectrum. Also in 2015, they released a double album titled "Neither Virtue Nor Anger" on Fuzz Club Records, which became the manifesto that crowned the
band among the most acclaimed Italian and European psychedelic realities. In 2017, they released "Grace," another album produced by Fuzz Club Records. It marked a reduction in the neo-psychedelic frequencies of their earlier work in favor of a newfound pop-wave sensitivity. Their latest work by Tiziano Veronese dates back to 2018: "Memories," a self-produced album of old demos found.

If up to that point Sonic Jesus had been described as “one of psych’s best kept secrets” (Shindig! Magazine) or “a well kept secret and hidden gem from the psych underworld” (Clash Magazine), on release of ‘Neither Virtue Nor Anger’, it seemed the secret was out.

Angels and Sonic Jesus Split Single… A proverbial beatific match made in Fuzz Club heaven.
I confess to having been a bit of late-comer to The Black Angels, but when they appeared on my radar in December 2013, I fell for them hook, line and sinker. Their sound simply encapsulated all of the elements I had adored since my first adolescent stirrings with The Doors, The Velvet Underground, Joy Division, The Cure, Echo And The Bunnymen et al. Sonic Jesus came to me courtesy of Fuzz Club guru Casper
Dee. I had somehow missed out on the birth of the psychedelic revival, but in January 2014, having proclaimed my undying love for all things Fuzz Club, Casper uttered the words that would have an enormous impact on the proceedng year, “Maybe you should check out Sonic Jesus as well.”The sparse yet lush opening guitar chords evoke a lunar, sea of tranquility dreamscape. Layer builds upon delicious droning layer, joined by a plaintive, rich vocal akin to a relentlessly mesmeric siren song.

The Quietus, “Sonic Jesus have conclusively proved themselves the contemporary psych-drone masters.” Elsewhere, Drowned In Sound wrote: “Neither Virtue Nor Anger goes above and beyond the realms of your average psych record... Instead, it takes the form of an industrial barrage of hypnotic sounds and devilish mantras.
Recorded in their studio between 2013 and 2014, Neither Virtue Nor Anger is something beyond the
colourful blend of 60s Psychedelia, Folk, Krautrock, Shoegaze and Post-Punk anticipated by Locomotive. The more it progresses, the more it turns into a desperate stomping Bacchanalia, spiced up with an hypnotic flavour and distorted atmosphere a la Faust. Obscure ceremonies for Greek-Roman mystery rituals, songs like My Lunacy and Cancer are the perfect soundtrack for a futuristic and dystopian Fellini’s Satyricon. The album features the artwork of prominent Italian artist Mirco Maracci.

The new album follows on from a split single with psych legends The Black Angels and a debut double LP titled Neither Virtue Nor Anger, which was met with wide-spread praise by the likes of The Quietus, Clash and Drowned In Sound. Graceshows Sonic Jesus taking on an insatiable new form, ditching their
industrial and hypnotic psych-rock for an expansive synth-driven post-punk sound that falls somewhere between Interpol, Editors and Cold Cave. There’s still the hypnotic Sonic Jesus darkness ebbing beneath the noise but these new tracks show the project reverberating around a new-found pop sensibility.
