Bella Union : Mother 1996
This is about one of the most important bands of the 90's underground music scene of Athens, Greece.
Bella Union was formed in Athens in 1992.
Their succesful gigs in legendary venue "AN club" resulted in their first release.
"Spring" came out on March '94 causing sensation on the airwaves. Warner Bros was fast to sign the band and release an E.P. was contained a new version of "Spring".
This made Bella Union one of the first english singing greek bands to be signed on a major label paving the way for others to follow. "Mother" (1996) is the band's only L.P. and was released on independent label FM Records to critical acclaim.
Line-up changes and new ideas brought a new musical direction and a new sound that can be heard on their final release, the double a-side single "Low/Come" (1999). "Legere" is a previously unreleased track.

Pop υψηλής ποιότητας που νομίζεις ότι έρχεται κατευθείαν από κάποια Βρετανική μπάντα.
Έλα μου ντε! που είναι οι γείτονες της διπλανής σου πόρτας.
Όταν κυκλοφόρησαν το single τους [που το βρίσκεις εδω ] και τους άκουσα δεν πίστευα με τίποτε ότι είναι Έλληνες. Περιττό να πώ ότι το έλιωσα.Θυμάμαι τότε δούλευα σε ένα μπαρ και το έπαιζα καθημερινά και πολλοί έρχονταν και μου έλεγαν τι είναι αυτό και πόσο καλό είναι.
Τότε δεν υπήρχαν CDRs και mp3s και το κομμάτια του single γραφόντουσαν σε κασέτες.
Πρέπει να χάρισα παραπάνω από 30 σε ένα καλοκαίρι, και η κασέτα έφτασε από την Ιταλία μέχρι την Αυστραλία και την Αμερική (τα καλά του τουρισμού) και όλοι μου έλεγαν από που μπορούν να το αγοράσουν σε Cd (Κουτσούμπα κάνε κάτι τώρα που το Θυμήθηκα... είναι κρίμα τόσα καλά singles βάλτα σε μια - δυο συλλογές σε σιντιά).
Το 12ινσο που έχουμε εδώ κυκλοφόρησε σε μεγάλη εταιρία (Wea) το 1994 και περιέχει και αυτό το spring σε δύο μάλιστα εκτελέσεις.

και κει πού έδειχναν όλα καλά και περιμέναμε το μπάμ με το album , προβλήματα με την εταιρία ή να πω με τις εταιρίες έκαναν τη μπάντα να το κυκλοφορήσει ένα χρόνο μετά σε άλλη μάλιστα εταιρία (FM Records) [Mother Lp/Cd].
Τα κομμάτια πάντως είναι όλα πολύ καλά , με αρκετό σκρατς .
Δεν ξέρω τι κάνουν τα μέλη τους σήμερα...
