Everything started back in 2002, in the Land Of Oz, by a neo-psychedelic band called The Dolly
Rocker Movement, formed by singer-guitarist Daniel Poulter. They managed to release three full-length albums, “Electric Sunshine” (2006), “A Purple Journey Through the Mod Machine” (2007) and “Our Days Mind the Tyme” (2009), through independent Australian record label Off the Hip before disbanding in 2013.
The Dolly Rocker Movement were an Australian neo-psychedelic rock band, formed in 2002 by
singer and guitarist, Daniel Poulter, the Australian line-up included, Ricky Drabsch (bass), Martin Walters (keyboards) and Christopher Rudge (drums). In late 2009 Poulter travelled to Los Angeles to start demo recording new solo and band material with producer Rob Campanella. There, the band was reformed to include de Silver, Jimmy Sweet (formerly bassist of Hot Hot Heat), Emily Stoia (keyboards), and T.J. McDonnell (drums). The outfit disbanded in 2013.
In 2006 they released not one, but two critically acclaimed contemporary psychedelic masterpieces. The first, Electric Sunshine, illustrated the chemically enhanced blend of folk, garage and country that characterised the band’s early set. The follow-up album, Purple Journey Into the Mod Machine, adopted as its thematic premise a journey through space and time with even more impressive songs as the result.
Our Days Mind the Tyme owes it’s genesis to the psychedelic 60s, and the influence of Sky Saxon, Arthur Lee and Syd Barrett, yet sparkles as bright, and fresh as the morning sun. From the baroque pop of “A Sound for Two”, to the tight garage licks of “My Heavenly Way” and “Sold for Sinners”, to the billowing pop elegance of “The Only One” and “The Ecstacy Once Told”, this is an album touched by the hand of spiritual enlightenment. Our Days Mind The Tyme was released 22.02.10 on LP/CD and as Download.
Stephen Haag of PopMatters observed, "There's more to this stuff than just a Hammond organ and a fuzzbox. DRM has done its homework, and even mix things up with some surf/horror-garage vibes."
Fausto Turi of Freakout magazine opined, "the group takes the best – starting with the style of the beautiful cover image ... – the British mersey beat, and the Californian electroacoustic psychedelia, with sparkling certain retrofuturistic sounds, but adding – and that is what ultimately matters most – a good quality of musical writing.
They are influenced by late 60´s garage, psychedelia and West coast folk. The charismatic band leader
Daniel Poulter writes beautiful and well-crafted songs and beneath the psychedelic and colourful surface The Dolly Rocker Movement is simply a great pop band with a destinctive sound of their own. Rich psychedelic blooms of a hundred colors and a thousand shades, come to light with the support of that miraculous instrument that is the farfisa piano, present in every song."

Many questions to answer. Many answers to question. You 'll find them on the outside. Where our
world is filled with electric sunshine by day and a yellow moon by night. Ears tuned into a blend of flowering psychedelia, chemical country and a dusty garage vibe. One way to get high is come along for the ride.

THE DOLLY ROCKER - A PURPLE JOURNEY INTO THE MOD MACHINE 2007
The Dolly Rocker Movement do far more than pass The Acid Test on their second album, “A Purple Journey Into The Mod Machine,” where with dancing eyes and enchanting lysergic lyrics they swirl, soar, and expand the mystic boundaries of the psychedelic scene that was laid down in the mid sixties, infiltrating your wayward mind with layered textures and visionary emotions, and it’s all due a
production complexity that is brilliant, tight and well considered. One of the first things you notice is the stylish conjuring luminescent environment into which The Dolly Rocker Movement invite you...making it plain from the get go, that they’re happy to have you stay as long as you like. Each song has not only been sonically considered, but so have the song placements, creating a soundscape that moves with fluid motions, with songs never stumbling over each other, tracking in a sequence that is as much a visionary wonder as it is a delight for your ears...sounding for all the world as if they’ve stepped out of the golden era of psychedelic music, yet are wholly original and effortless.

THE DOLLY ROCKER MOVEMENT - YOUR SIDE OF TOWN (7" SINGLE) 2013
"There has been a little quiet around the Australian band The Dolly Rocker Movement since they released their third album Our Days Mind the Tyme in 2010. Main man Daniel J. Poulter moved to the
US for a while and when he returned to Australia he started a new band called Kill City Creeps.
But Poulter has not completely forgotten about The Dolly Rocker Movement which is why Bad Afro is proud to present a brand new 7” EP. The 7” single is featuring a bonus track compared to the download version in shape of “Girl of the 13th hour”, a cover of the obscure Texas garage band Chaz and the Classics from 1967."
Your Side of Town is a slightly melancholic psych pop song with vibrant guitar licks and cool organs while Silently We Sung has a more quirky beat miles away from the usual garage thang.
