Greek Psychedelic Garage band originating from the 90s with their 2nd album . 15 originals including 2 collaborations with legendary SEEDS member SKY SAXON . This is where 60s garage punk meets psychedelia . Yesterday’s Thoughts were formed in Athens , Greece in 1996 . The main influences of the group are focused on the mid sixties US punk and psychedelic sounds . In 1998, they released their first 7” E.P. including four original songs & in 2002 their first LP titled " Searchin’ In Shadows ". Been busy giving concerts & interviews as well as songs in many fanzines and compilations . Opened festivals for many top bands like the Fuzztones , the Nomads (Sweden) , Steve Wynn… & the Seeds . Being fans of Seeds music for many years this was a real pleasure for the band especially meeting Sky Saxon and shearing the feelings of respect for each other’s music . On May 2004 Yesterday’s Thoughts signed up with a newly formed Greek label , Sound Effect Records in order to have their second LP as the label’s first release . In the meantime Sky 'Sunlight' Saxon came for a second concert in Athens and surprised the band by proposing two new ideas he had and asking them to take part in their LP ! After working with the band for some days they co- wrote the " If I had some marijuana " & " Build yourself an aero-plane " songs with Sky’s leading vocals . You can listen to them along with 13 original compositions of Yesterday’s Thoughts in this LP .

The Sisters of Mercy are an English rock band that formed in 1980. After achieving early underground fame in UK, the band had their commercial breakthrough in mid-1980s and sustained it until the early 1990s, when they stopped releasing new recorded output as a strike against their record company. Currently, the band is a touring outfit only.

The group has released three original studio albums, of which the last was released in 1990. Each album was recorded by a different line-up; singer and songwriter Andrew Eldritch and the drum machines called Doktor Avalanche are the only points of continuity among the line-ups. Eldritch and Avalanche were also involved in The Sisterhood, a side-project connected with Eldritch's dispute with former members.

The group ceased recording activity in 1994, when they went on strike against their record company Time Warner, which they accused of withholding royalties and being incompetent. Although Time Warner eventually let the band go in 1997, they have not signed to another label, and have chosen not to go the independent label route, despite showcasing numerous new songs in their live sets.

Since 1985, when the other original members left, The Sisters of Mercy has become the artistic vehicle of Andrew Eldritch. Ex-members of the group established the bands Ghost Dance and The Mission.

The Jam were the most popular band to emerge from the initial wave of British punk rock in 1977; along with the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the Buzzcocks, the Jam had the most impact on pop music. While they could barely get noticed in America, the trio became genuine superstars in Britain, with an impressive string of Top Ten singles in the late '70s and early '80s. The Jam could never have a hit in America because they were thoroughly and defiantly British. Under the direction of guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Paul Weller, the trio spearheaded a revival of mid-'60s mod groups, in the style of the Who and the Small Faces. (all music .com)

Review
Ever since the release of the 1972 Nuggets: Original Artyfacts comp there have been bands like the Creeps, and most likely there always will be. The Swedish retro act aims squarely at mid-'60s garage rock, aping the bands that aped the Yardbirds, but thanks to inspired playing and inventive arrangements, they succeed in adding to the tradition rather than just running in place. Recorded with period-appropriate atmosphere (i.e. a thick, dirty echo), the Creeps bang out nine originals that channel the Animals and Them, delivered with power and precision. "Down at the Nightclub" leads off Enjoy the Creeps with a stiff swing and a booze-positive philosophy, then breaks down with a jazzy piano coda. Other highlights include the lascivious "Hi, Hi, Pretty Girl," the Farfisa-driven instrumental "Rattlesnake Shake," and the frantic drum rolls and fuzz solo on "Ain't No Square." A medley of Sonics covers ("Maintaining My Cool" and "I'm A Rolling Stone") is reverent and energetic, but won't change anyone's mind about the wild, rambunctious Northwest originals. In fact, the only thing missing on Enjoy the Creeps is a sense of true abandon, that apocalyptic spark that makes the most primitive, boneheaded garage bands like the Count Five or the Seeds so eternal. The Creeps are musicians, not punks, and while there's no lack of get-down vitality to their sound, they won't take the listener anywhere except the dancefloor. However, their pugnacious take of the obscure, middle-finger anthem "City of People" seethes with defiance ("Baby don't you mess with me/Cuz you know you could never bring me down/Hey Hey Hey!"), equaling the sneer of the original 1966 Illusions single, and nearly matching Fireworks' vicious 1995 rewrite as "City of Assholes." Garage rock revivalists will find lots to move to on Enjoy the Creeps, but the band didn't stay tied down to their nostalgic muse for long. The Creeps modified their sound in later years, taking on more modern elements with soul/funk textures that earned them a Swedish Grammy, and a big hit in their homeland with "Ooh, I Like It" in 1990. ~ Fred Beldin, All Music Guide

Yothu Yindi (Yolngu language for " Child and Mother. " ) is an Australian band with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal members . The Aboriginal members come from near Yirrkala on the Gove Peninsula in the Northern Territory's Arnhem Land. The band tries to combine aspects of both musical cultures. Their sound varies from traditional Aboriginal songs to modern pop and rock songs. In almost all their songs they try to blend the typical instruments that are associated with pop/rock bands , such as guitars and drums , with the traditional didgeridoo and clapsticks . They also adapted traditional dance to accompany their music .


Lindsay Murdoch , Darwin July 31 , 2008 TRADITIONAL Aboriginal owners have won exclusive control of more than 7000 kilometres of Northern Territory coastline in a ground-breaking High Court decision . The court's 5-2 ruling will allow Aboriginal people living in coastal communities to reap what are expected to be huge economic benefits . Anyone wanting to enter their land - including beaches and the sea from the high to low-water mark - will have to get permission . Indigenous elders in Darwin yesterday celebrated what they called a "landmark victory for traditional owners" after a protracted legal battle . " We are overjoyed by this decision … we have waited for 30 years for our sea rights to be legally recognised " , said Wali Wunungmurra , chairman of the Northern Land Council , which represents indigenous groups in northern Australia . The decision will give traditional owners authority under the Northern Territory Land Rights Act to decide how fishing is conducted along 80% of the Territory coast , which offers some of Australia's best fishing .

Η ιστορία των σΝ ξεκινά το 1986, όταν βρίσκονται μαζί οι Κωνσταντίνος Βήτα, Μιχάλης Δέλτα και Αντώνης Πι με αρκετές μουσικές ανησυχίες και κάνοντας μουσικούς πειραματισμούς. Επηρεασμένοι από τον ήχο της acid γράφουν κάποια κομμάτια και σχηματίζουν ένα instrumental (ορχηστρικό-χωρίς στίχους) γκρουπ με το όνομα Bobby Blast. Κατά το 1990 ο Κωνσταντίνος Βήτα γράφει κάποιους στίχους κι η μπάντα αποφασίζει να τους ενσωματώσει στα κομμάτια της. Το όνομα της αλλάζει σε Στέρεο Νόβα και μέχρι το 1991 ολοκληρώνονται τα κομμάτια του πρώτου τους (ομώνυμου) δίσκου, ο οποίος τελικά κυκλοφορεί το 1992 από την Wipe Out Records. Ακολουθούν κυκλοφορίες αρκετών άλμπουμ και singles μέχρι και την κυκλοφορία του Τέλσον το 1996, οπότε και ο Αντώνης Πι αποχωρεί από το γκρουπ. Οι σΝ θα παραμείνουν για περίπου ακόμα ένα χρόνο όταν και στα τέλη του 1997 θα διαλυθούν. Τα μέλη των Στέρεο Νόβα συνεχίζουν ξεχωριστά τον δρόμο τους στη μουσική μέχρι σήμερα. [Wiki] [Wiki English]

Στέρεο Νόβα
Οι ΣΤΕΡΕΟ ΝΟΒΑ έκαναν την εμφάνισή τους στα μουσικά δρώμενα της χώρας στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του '90. Οι Κωνσταντίνος Βήτα και Μιχάλης Δέλτα αρχικά με το όνομα Bobby Blast άρχισαν να επεξεργάζονται κάποιες μουσικές ιδέες. Σύντομα η ονομασία του γκρουπ άλλαξε σε ΣΤΕΡΕΟ ΝΟΒΑ και κυκλοφόρησε ο πρώτος ομώνυμος δίσκος. Στην πορεία προστέθηκε ένα ακόμα μέλος, ο Αντώνης Πι, ο οποίος αποχώρησε μετά την κυκλοφορία του ΤΕΛΣΟΝ.
Οι ΣΤΕΡΕΟ ΝΟΒΑ κυκλοφόρησαν 5 δίσκους (ΣΤΕΡΕΟ ΝΟΒΑ, ΝΤΙΣΚΟΛΑΤΑ, ΑΣΥΡΜΑΤΟΣ ΚΟΣΜΟΣ, ΤΕΛΣΟΝ, ΒΙΤΑΜΙΝΑ ΤΕΚ) ενώ σύντομα μετά τη διάλυσή τους εκδόθηκε ακόμη ένας δίσκος - συνεργασία με τον Σταμάτη Κραουνάκη (ΩΦΕΛΙΜΟ ΦΟΡΤΙΟ) και ένα (επεξεργασμένο στο studio live και αυτό δεν είναι μομφή) με τίτλο Σ.Κ.Α.Ζ.H. (Σκόρπια Κομμάτια Από Ζωντανές Ηχογραφήσεις).
Περισσότερο από ένα κοινό γκρουπ, οι ΣΤΕΡΕΟ ΝΟΒΑ, για όλους εμάς που τους αγαπήσαμε, ήταν ένα ταξίδι σε όλους τους σταθμούς μιας γλυκόπικρης ζωής. Μουσικές και λέξεις για την αγάπη, την απώλεια, τα συντρίμμια του έρωτα, την ελπίδα, τη νοσταλγία, τη θέληση για ζωή... Ίσως περισσότερο από κάθε ελληνικό σχήμα μίλησαν στους νέους μ' ένα πρωτόγνωρο για τα ελληνικά δεδομένα ύφος : Ηλεκτρονικό μουσικό background, πρόζα, αργότερα τραγούδι. Κάτι τέτοιο είχε κάνει στο παρελθόν μόνο η Λένα Πλάτωνος (δηλωμένη επιρροή του γκρουπ) χωρίς όμως την πλατιά αποδοχή της οποίας έτυχαν οι ΣΤΕΡΕΟ ΝΟΒΑ.
ΣΤΙΧΟΙ
Η ιστορία έδειξε ότι πρώτα έγιναν αποδεκτοί οι στίχοι του γκρουπ και μετά σταδιακά η μουσική τους. Ο Κωνσταντίνος Βήτα (που για κάποιο λόγο πάντα θα συνδέω στιχουργικά με τον Morrissey) ήταν έξυπνος και ταλαντούχος ώστε να αποφύγει τα στιχουργικά και υφολογικά κλισέ που ακόμη και τώρα κατατρέχουν τα σχήματα της ελληνικής ανεξάρτητης σκηνής. Με λέξεις απλές και ουσιαστικές έπλασε ιστορίες και ήρωες χαρτογραφώντας τις αγωνίες και τις αναζητήσεις των νέων στο τέλος της δεκαετίας που τέλειωσε. Τις πλαισίωσε με το ρομαντισμό και τον λυρισμό ενός ανθρώπου που πασχίζει να κρατηθεί γνήσιος σε έναν "κόσμο παράλογο". Τα πρόσωπα στα τραγούδια των ΣΤΕΡΕΟ ΝΟΒΑ μοιάζουν να ακροβατούν μόνιμα στην κόψη του ξυραφιού, ανάμεσα στον ρομαντισμό και τον ρεαλισμό, μέχρι που αυτά τα δύο πλέκονται και γίνονται ένα. Ίσως το πιο χαρακτηριστικό των στίχων του γκρουπ ήταν το γεγονός ότι ξέφυγαν από την νοοτροπία του "περιγράφω μια ιστορία ".
Οι στίχοι ήταν περισσότερο σαν μια βόλτα στην πόλη, με διαδοχικές εικόνες σαν Polaroid και αυτό δεν είναι τυχαίο. Και τα τρία μέλη του γκρουπ κατά καιρούς ασχολήθηκαν με τη ζωγραφική και τη γραφιστική.

Διάλεξα τούτο δω από την δισκογραφία τους γιατί είναι για μένα ένα από τα καλύτερα τους κομμάτια. Πάντα γούσταρα που οι βινυλιακές τους κυκλοφορίες ήταν διαφορετικές από αυτές των cd , ακούγοντας τους πότε κόλλαγα συνέχεια στα κομμάτια με στίχο , και πότε κόλλαγα στα ορχηστρικά τους...
