Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart : Rising Above Bedlam 1991

Jah Wobble (born John Joseph Wardle, 11 August 1958, Stepney, London) is an English bass guitarist, singer, poet and composer. He became known to a wider audience as the original bass player in Public Image Ltd (PiL) in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but left the band after two years. Following his departure from PiL, he went on to a successful solo career, continuing to the present.

Wobble started his musical career with John Lydon's post-Sex Pistols group Public Image Ltd (PiL)

His explorations into World music predated much of the genre's popularity.
His music has spanned a number of genres, including ambient music dance music, and Ethnic
experiments .

The second album by Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart continued the bassist's exploration into ethnic fusion, merging together music from different world traditions with pop production and his own dub-influenced bass guitar.

The tracks , including the amazing "Everyman's an Island," are quite remarkable and most feature the fine talents of Natasha Atlas.

The title track is an odd throwback to Public Image Limited, a spoken monologue over bass guitar. However the album picks up immediately, with "Erzulie", which also has Natacha Atlas on it and is superb, haunting and distant, at least in the verses.

Tracks

1. Visions Of You
2. Relight The Flame
3. Bomba
4. Ungodly Kingdom
5. Rising Above Bedlam
6. Erzulie
7. Everyman's An Island

Everyman's An Island :

Everyman's an island
And the time is coming
Senseless air conflict
A murder man in the magazine
Meaningless imagery
Blaze across my TV screen
I see myself impulsing daunting
Someone wake me from this dream

Drift into the dream

"Fine" is a word invented by brutality
Sent here to us to sell itself to it
The freedom of the highway is blue jeans
Biased...

Everyman's an island
And the time is coming in
Till you never know yourself . That is the ultimate sin

Never gave our deepest greedy uses
Heartfelt sentiment
Without the intent to nationalism of an airline advertisement

Red Roses , blast farewells

Luxury on call
Meaningless imagery..

Meaningless imagery
Blaze across my TV screen
I see myself something daunting
Someone wake me from this dream
