The name Steeleye Span comes from a character in the traditional song Horkstow Grange (which they did not actually record until they released an album by that name in 1998). The song gives an account of a fight between John "Steeleye" Span and John Bowlin, neither of whom are proven to have been real people. Martin Carthy gave Tim Hart the idea to name the band after the song character. When the band discussed names, they decided to vote between the three suggestions "Middlemarch Wait", "Iyubidin's Wait", and "Steeleye Span". Although there were only five members in the band, six ballots appeared and "Steeleye Span" won out. Only in 1978 did Hart confess that he had voted twice. Terry Woods maintains that the members had agreed that if more than one person departed, the remaining members would select a new name, and he was upset that this did not happen when he and Gay Woods left the band. The liner notes for their first album include thanks to Carthy for the name suggestion.
Throughout its long history, Steeleye Span has seen a great many personnel changes but has maintained a strong continuity of tradition. Lead vocalist Maddy Prior was one of the main attractions of the band's music, being one of a handful of strong-but-melodically-voiced women in rock music in the 1970s (along with Sandy Denny, Renaissance's Annie Haslam, Jacqui McShee and Linda Thompson).
Their typical album is a collection of mostly traditional songs with one or two instrumental tracks of jigs and/or reels added in; the traditional songs often include some of the Child ballads. In their later albums there has been an increased tendency to include music written by the band members, but they have never got completely away from traditional music, which draws upon both the English and the Celtic traditions.

AVATON : Eξ αδοκητω 1996

Far away from here , deep in the mystery of the ancient Greece , the sound of " Αβατον " emerges like a purple flower under the blue Athen' s sky , covered by melodic clouds , blinding our eyes . No way to run ! Escape it' s impossible ! The mystery , the myth and the leggend live here like a dying butterfly showing her wings before to crawl down . The lyrics of " Αβατον " are in the ancient Greek language , Poems made 4.000 years ago .
This is one of the best Hellenic groups EVER !!!

Jane' s Addiction : Nothing Shocking 1988

Los Angeles , California , USA ... 1984 by Miami -raised PERRY FARRELL . The band' s debut effort was a self - financed eponymous live album on the label " Triple XXX " , the record' s naked intensity going some way towards capturing FARRELL's skewed musical vision . More successful was the band' s debute for "Warner Brothers" : "Nothing's Shocking" , a willfully perverse and electric blend of Thrash , Punk and Funk that , musically and lyrically , made L.A 's Cock- Rock brigade look like school boys .
"Idiots Rule"

I got a lie
A fat fuckin' lie
About a law
Idiots obey
They made it easy
Now cheaters have their way
You hi-di-ho's
You're living on your knees

Forget the rule!
Oh - idiots rule!
Forget the rule!
Oh - idiots rule!
Now there's a time...
But i say non like now
There's a time
Where idiots are bound
If there's a pole
Planted in your back
Then you're a fixture
Not a man

Forget the rule!
Oh - idiots rule!
Forget the rule!
Oh - idiots rule!
Idiots!
Idiots rule!
Idiots!
Idiots rule!
Idiots!
Idiots rule!

You know that man
You hate?
You look more like him
Every day everyday
Hi-di-hos!
2 good shoes
Won't save your soul
Idiots rule!
Idiots rule!

Jane' s Addiction : Ritual De Lo Habitual 1990

Jane's Addiction is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985. The band consists of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Chaney. Jane's Addiction was one of the first bands from the early 1990s alternative rock movement to gain both mainstream media attention and commercial success in the United States.

Founded by Farrell and original bass guitarist Eric Avery following the disintegration of Farrell's previous band Psi Com, Jane's Addiction's first release was a self-titled live album, Jane's Addiction (1987), which caught the attention of Warner Bros. Records. The band's first two studio albums, Nothing's Shocking (1988) and Ritual de lo Habitual (1990), were released to widespread critical acclaim, and an increasing cult fanbase. As a result, Jane's Addiction became icons of what Farrell dubbed the "Alternative Nation". The band's initial farewell tour, in 1991, launched the first Lollapalooza, which has since become a perennial alternative rock festival.

In 1997, the band reunited with Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers replacing Avery on bass guitar for a one off tour. In 2001, a second reunion took place, with Martyn LeNoble—and later Chris Chaney—occupying the role of bass guitarist. In 2003, the band released its third studio album, Strays, before

dissolving again the following year. In 2008, the band's original line-up reunited and embarked on a world tour. Eric Avery, however, subsequently left the band in early 2010 as the group began working on new material. The band released its fourth studio album The Great Escape Artist in 2011, with Chaney returning to the band for its recording and subsequent tour, and featured the TV on the Radio's multi-instrumentalist Dave Sitek. In 2016, Jane's Addiction were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
