Mystic Siva: Mystic Siva 1970 + Under The Influence 1969-1970

From Michigan produced an excellent psych-rock album, which comes in an amazing sleeve and is as rare as hell. Finally from the master tapes! Be blown away by the mind bending power of "Supernatural Mind" in a previously unheard clarity. Tripped out fluid guitar and

rippling keyboards envelop mystical acid lyrics. Perfection! This legendary US '60s psych monster that under the right influences will destroy your head!
This quartet from Detroit (1970) created one of the most wanted artefacts in the psychedelic collectors scene. The music was recorded in 1970. With an average age of 17 those "teenage Sivas" showed best quality in songwriting playing their instruments and creating an own sound. First official release! Original cover artwork and band story!!! Awesome US psychedelia Masterpiece: Spooky go-go organ, acidy guitar lashes, strong powerfull vocals. Higly Recommended

Formed in 1967 in Detroit, Michigan by four teenagers, none more than 15 years of age, Mystic Siva recorded only one, self-titled album.  The album was recorded in one day, in 1970, at V.O. Studios by the band, consisting of Dave Mascarin on drums and lead vocals, chief songwriter and creator the album’s distinct cover artwork; Al Tozzi on guitar, who co-wrote five of the eleven tracks with Mascarin; Marc Heckert on Hammond B-3 organ and vocals; and Art Thienel on bass and vocals.

Unfortunately, the folks at V.O. were not familiar with recording rock and roll, and recorded the bands instruments directly into the recording equipment, giving the album, according to the band “a sterile

sound rather than a more natural sound with the distortion and feedback.”  The band was disappointed with the final mix as Al Tozzi’s guitar solos were leveled down to the point of nearly disappearing.  Tozzi overdubbed new solos on three of the albums tracks.  However, the new guitar solos overpowered the rest of the band, and the LP which was released on the V.O. label in 1970 still was not to the band’s liking.

In 2013 Tozzi visited the studio and miraculously located the 43 year old first generation mixdown tape without the overdubbed guitar solos, and the original recordings were handed over to World In Sound sound engineer Winnie Leyh.  On 31 January, 2014, the good folks at World In Sound Records, Germany,  reissued “Mystic Siva” so that for the first time the band’s intention of floating beats, swirling Hammond B-3 grooves and massive lead guitar work, was fully realized.

An absolute must (truly) have for all fans of heavy psych, especially the Michigan (SRC, Rationals, etc.) variety.  Incredible songs played incredibly well and at long last sounding incredibly good!

MYSTIC SIVA - MYSTIC SIVA 1970

Previously unreleased recordings of Mystic Siva from Detroit, very famous in the psychedelic collector´s scene for their outstanding and rare original album (already reissued by WIS). The music

here, recorded live prior to the album is taken from the master tapes. The opener is an instrumental cut, followed by six diff. versions of original album tracks in very powerful style, mixed with four long acid jamming cover tunes turned into typical Siva style with pounding and hypnotic Hammond B3 organ, wailing and distorted fuzz/wah-wah guitar work, powerful (sometimes Doors influenced) vocals and massive drums which lead you to the holy grail of psychedelic music.

Moody and sombre sound musings by a bunch of teens from the Motor City Mystic Siva cut one sole

album that became one of the most expensive collectables then disappeared into the mists of time. This remixed and remastered reissue upfronts the band's vocal and keyboard-heavy sound. Pacing in a laidback style the songs emit a churchy resonance with flashes of ace guitar playing weaving in the mix.
Tame and guitar-lite by Detroit standards this nevertheless is a solid recording and one of the more worthy entries into the listenables in all things unknown and Psychedelic.
