Electric Litany is an extraordinary Greek Band, London-based four piece whose music
incorporates sounds of post rock, synthpop, neoclassical, electronica and experimental soundscapes. The band have released three albums: “How To Be A Child and Win The War” (2010), “Enduring Days You Will Overcome” (2014) and “Under A Common Sky” (2019) as well as the “Love” EP (2016). They will be releasing their upcoming EP “Music For Sleep” later this year (2021).
Founding members Alexandros Miaris and Richard Simic formed the band in 2007. In their formative
years Electric Litany lived and rehearsed in abandoned buildings across East London including Leyton Town Hall and The Fallen Angel in Walthamstow. In 2008 they recorded their debut single and video ‘Tear’ at The Fallen Angel. The track includes a transcript from Greek poet and activist Ghiannis Ritsos.
In November 2008 Electric Litany supported I Like Trains at Gagarin 205 in Athens, Greece and
secured a record deal with Inner Ear Records (GR). In 2009 they recorded their debut album “How To Be A Child and Win The War” (Inner Ear, 2010) in a church in Neasden North London with producer George Botis. In 2011 the band performed extensively including supporting Interpol on their European tour and numerous European festival appearances.
They spent 3 years writing and rehearsing in derelict public buildings before recording their debut
album live within three days in an abandoned church in North London. Eerie vocals, creeping guitar delays, robotic rhythms and distorted synths are some of the elements that characterise the nostalgic, lo-fi post-rock sound of Electric Litany. “How To Be A Child And Win The War” was released in 2010 and quickly received great reviews and the devotion of an eclectic audience. The release was followed by concerts in Europe where these audiences shared a unique experience.
In 2012/2013 the band recorded their second album “Enduring Days You Will Overcome” with music legend Alan Parsons as co-producer. Parsons decided to get involved after being
impressed by the previous recordings, and is quoted as saying “[Electric Litany] are the next Radiohead.” The partnership was achieved through Source-Connect digital audio software which allowed the band to record remotely. Response to the album was hugely positive and gained the band international recognition. In support of the album, Electric Litany supported the Alan Parsons Project on their tour of Germany and Austria in 2013.
Their long-awaited sophomore album showcases a collaboration with legendary producer Alan Parsons
and was released across Europe in February 2014 via Inner Ear. A month earlier (15/1) they performed at the prestigious Eurosonic Festival in the Netherlands. The band currently consists of: Alexandros Miaris (vocals, guitars, piano, synths, cello), Richard Simic (drums, percussion), Benjamin Prince (synths) and Pavlos Mavromatakis (bass).
In July 2015 Electric Litany were asked to perform in Sytagma square in Athens, Greece as part
of the protest against austerity. The event was broadcast worldwide as well as witnessed by the audience of tens of thousands. The next day they performed on the main stage at Rockwave festival alongside The Prodigy and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
In 2019 Electric Litany started their own label Azure Records and licensed their third album “Under A
Common Sky” to Apollon (EU) and Inner Ear (GR) Records. The nine track LP features tracks ‘Sealight’ and ‘Refugee’, both receiving numerous awards for their music videos.
In 2020 a collection of previously unheard material was released as part of bootleg album “The
Amniotic Tranquillity of Being Indoors During a Thunderstorm”. Profits went to support charities dealing with the global pandemic. In May 2021 Electric Litany re-entered the studio to begin work on their new EP “Music for Sleep.”

So we approach you like we should
and yet, we shall leave before the end
and so we were baptised by no name
and yet we will never be afraid
You don’t need no prayers
and now we will never be afraid
Cfu LYRICS
The way you're drinking up the night
This way you'll drink it always
This way you'll drink it always
Someday you'll find that theres a line
And there are no walls between us
There are no walls between us
I hold my Love,
I keep my Love Under my coat forever
It's better late than never
Would I be crazy not to lie
I Love you more than ever!
This way you'll drink it always
This way you'll drink it always
Someday you'll find that theres a line
And there are no walls between us
There are no walls between us
I hold my Love,
I keep my Love Under my coat forever
It's better late than never
Would I be crazy not to lie
I Love you more than ever!
SEALIGHT LYRICS
You're like an angel falling down,
you've seen the light
You're like a Mother to a child
Brought my shadow at your door to feel alright
I got this hammer for a song
Do you see the Lie?
Do you see the Lie? Do you see the Lie?
Oh do you see the Light?
you've seen the light
You're like a Mother to a child
Brought my shadow at your door to feel alright
I got this hammer for a song
Do you see the Lie?
Do you see the Lie? Do you see the Lie?
Oh do you see the Light?
I brought my shadow at your door to feel alright
I gave this hammer for a song¨
When the moon will drive you high into the night
I wouldn't take this anymore
Even in the brightest snow
we need the darkness
Words are fiction
I gave this hammer for a song¨
When the moon will drive you high into the night
I wouldn't take this anymore
Even in the brightest snow
we need the darkness
Words are fiction
You see the Lie?
That's why I keep you in my soul
Do you see the Lie?
Do you see the Lie?
Do you see the Lie?
Oh do you see the Light?

Already ordered without listening. I let myself be surprised and that increases the tension, but i'm sure it will be fine. At amazon for only 7.70e incl. postage. It is said to be the band's most ambitions album. A Greece band passed in London and recorded in Korfu. Thanks Kostas !
ReplyDeleteA lot of effort and nice you designed the entry.
I'm sure that you'll adore them. Really a great album.
DeleteBy the way, as far as i know, Korfu is fantastically beautiful. It is called the green island of Greece. I traveled a lot in Greece in the second half of the 70s. Unfortunately never in Korfu. A serious mistake.
ReplyDeleteAll the Ionian Islands are full of green. I worked at Cefalonia, as a piano player, for four years. Amazing places, incredible sea.

ReplyDelete@aw, i don't want to hurt anyone. I would like to make one comment about your blog, i took a quick look.
DeleteI think it's terrible ! I assume you make these compilations yourself (?). In my eyes an act of barbarism. But it is at liberty if people like something like that.
I keep playing 'The 7th Goodbye' ...damn, that is a religious experience, it's that good!
ReplyDeletethanks for this.
