Miss Ludella Black: Till You Lie In Your Grave 2018

Real Name: Sarah J. Crouch. Ludella Black was an original member of legendary Medway

garage band The Delmonas, after which she became a Headcoatee along with her friends Holly Golightly, Kyra Rubella and ‘Bongo’ Debbie.
Since the demise of Thee Headcoatees in 1999 she has released two solo albums on Damaged Goods (She’s Out There (2000) and From This Witness Stand (2008)), and plays live with The Masonics regularly and has appeared on loads of singles and albums with them too.

A track from her first DG album called ‘He’s Not There’ appeared in the hit film JUNO in 2007. Her

second album, another classic, From This Witness Stand, featured 14 tracks recorded over summer 2008 in Spain, backed by The Masonics ( Micky Hampshire (Milkshakes) Bruce Brand (Milkshakes / Headcoatees / Holly Golightly /Dutronc) and John Gibbs (Wildebeests / Holly Golightly).

Till You Lie In Your Grave is  Ludella’s 3rd and favourite solo album to be released by Damaged Goods in May 25th 2018. Featuring the Masonics! It was recorded at Jim Riley’s Ranscombe studio,

in her home town of Rochester in Kent. The fourteen songs include twelve titles penned by Mick Hampshire, a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Wait’, and a nod to her headbanging days with a rendition of Black Sabbath’s ‘Am I Going Insane’. Pour yourself a large Merlot, sit back, relax and enjoy! By the way, the sharp eyed of you may notice that the location of the photo shoot on the record cover bears an uncanny resemblance to that on the Headcoatees’ Girlsville LP. Funny that!

Centering on five towns situated in Kent, U.K., the Medway scene was born in the early '80s with a

defiantly lo-fi take on '60s garage/beat, seasoned with a dash of classic rock & roll and lots of punk attitude. Arguably the scene's most famous son was the prolific Billy Childish, and alongside his Milkshakes/Headcoats and the Prisoners, the Masonics remained one of the most enduring and popular bands spawned from the Medway.

  2. Thank you. I've just finished the book Girlsville by Saskia Holling which is about the Delmonas/headcoatees so this was good timing.
