New York Dolls : Rock ' n ' Roll 1994

The band's protopunk sound prefigured much of what was to come in the punk rock era. their visual style influenced the look of many new wave and 1980s-era glam metal groups, and they began the local New York scene .

The band was influenced by vintage rhythm and blues, the early Rolling Stones, classic American girl group songs, and post-psychedelic bands such as the MC5 and The Stooges, as well as then-current glam rockers such as Marc Bolan.

They did it their own way, creating something which critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote "doesn't really sound like anything that came before it. It's hard rock with a self-conscious wit, a celebration of camp and kitsch that retains a menacing, malevolent edge."

PERSONALITY CRISIS

Well we can't take it this week
And her friends don't want another speach
Hoping for a better day to hear what she's got to say

All about that Personality Crisis you got it while it was hot
But now frustration and heartache is what you got
(That's why they talk about Personality)

But now your tryin to be some no you got to do some
Wanna be someone who cow wow wows
But you think about the times you did they took every ounce
when it sure got to be a shame when you start to scream and shout
you got to contradict all those times you were butterflyin about
(You were butterflyin)

All about that Personality Crisis you got it while it was hot
But now frustration and heartache is what you got

And your a prima ballerina on a spring afternoon
change on into the wolfman howlin at the moon hooowww

All about that Personality Crisis you got it while it was hot
But now frustration and heartache is what you got

Now with all the crossin fingers that mother nature says
Your mirrors get jammed up with all your friends
That personality everything starts to bend
Personality when your mind starts to bend
Personality impression of a friend,
Of a friend, of a friend, of a friend, of a friend
Personality wonderin how celebrities ever met
(Look and find out on television)

Personality Crisis you got it while it was hot
frustration and heartache is all you got. Don't you worry

Personality Crisis please don't cry
it's just a Personality Crisis please don't stop

Because you walk a Personality
Talk a Personality

Frank Miller - Lynn Varley : 300

Frank Miller (born January 27, 1957) is an American comic book artist and writer best known for his dark, film noir-style comic book stories and graphic novels Ronin, Daredevil: Born Again, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City and 300. He also directed the film version of The Spirit, shared directing duties with Robert Rodriguez on Sin City and produced the film 300.

Lynn Varley is an award-winning colorist, notable for her collaborations with her former husband, comic book writer/artist Frank Miller, whom she divorced in 2005.
Varley colored other Miller books, including Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again, Elektra Lives Again, and Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot (with Geoff Darrow). She also colored the backgrounds for the 300 movie (2007), produced by Miller.

300 is a historically-inspired 1998 comic book mini series, released as a hardcover collection in 1999 .
In Greece , this comic was published in 1999 in 5 different parts and then, as a complete comic book in August 1999 .

Part 1. Honor. April 1999

Part 2. Duty. May 1999

Part 3. Glory. June 1999

Part 4. Combat. July 1999

Part 5. Victory. Aug. 1999

Written and illustrated by Frank Miller with painted colors by Varley, the comic is a fictional retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae and the events leading up to it from the perspective of Leonidas of Sparta.
300 was particularly inspired by the 1962 film The 300 Spartans, a movie that Miller watched as a young boy.
In 2007, 300 was adapted by director Zack Snyder into a successful film.

Every page of the comic was illustrated as a double-page spread. When the series was gathered into hardcover form, the individual pages were twice as wide as a normal comic.
Miller's art style for this project was similar to his " Sin City " work, although the addition of consistent color is an obvious difference.

300 was initially published as a monthly five-issue comic book limited series by Dark Horse Comics, the first issue published in May 1998.
The issues were titled Honor, Duty, Glory, Combat and Victory.
The series won three Eisner Awards in 1999: "Best Limited Series", "Best Writer/Artist" for Frank Miller and "Best Colorist" for Lynn Varley. The work was collected as a hardcover volume in 1999.

THE STORY

In 480 BC, King Leonidas of Sparta gathers 300 of his best men to fight the upcoming Persian invasion.
In what is likely a suicide mission, they and their allies plan to stop King Xerxes' invasion of Greece at the narrow cliffs of the "Hot Gates" (Thermopylae). The terrain prevents the Greeks from being overwhelmed by Xerxes' superior numbers.

Before the battle starts, Ephialtes, a deformed Spartan, begs Leonidas to let him fight but is rejected due to his hunchbacked form, which prevents him from lifting his shield high enough to be of use for the phalanx.
The Spartans and their allies successfully hold off the Persians for two days and nights.

During a break in the fighting, Xerxes meets with Leonidas and offers wealth and power in exchange for his surrender. Leonidas declines, and battle continues. In his depression, Ephialtes betrays the Greeks by telling the Persians about the existence of a small pass that allows Xerxes to attack them from behind.

Learning of the Persian maneuvers, the Greeks realize their position is indefensible, but the Spartans and a few others refuse to retreat. Before engaging the Persians for the last time, Leonidas orders one Spartan (Dilios) to leave, so that he might survive to tell their story.

On the third day Xerxes has the Spartans surrounded, their remaining allies (Thespians) already dead. He gives Leonidas one final chance to surrender and kneel to him. After some hesitation, Leonidas finally complies and throws down his arms. This, however, is a trick by Leonidas, and signals the Spartans to fight. Leonidas throws his spear at Xerxes, intending to make the "God-King" bleed, and succeeds. The Spartans are killed to the last man by arrows.

The story then shifts about a year later and ends as now-Captain Dilios relates the heroic sacrifice of Leonidas and his Spartan comrades to his troops before the historic Battle of Plataea.

THE FILM

300 is a 2007 American film adapted from a graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller, a fictionalized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae. The film was directed by Zack Snyder, while Miller served as executive producer and consultant. It was filmed mostly with a super-imposition chroma key technique, to help replicate the imagery of the original comic book.

King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) leads 300 Spartans into battle against Persian "god-King" Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his army of more than one million soldiers. As the battle rages, Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey) attempts to rally support in Sparta for her husband. The story is framed by a voice-over narrative by the Spartan soldier Dilios (David Wenham). Through this narrative technique, various fantastical creatures are introduced, placing 300 within the genre of historical fantasy.

300 was released in both conventional and IMAX theaters in the United States on March 9, 2007, and on DVD, Blu-ray, and HD DVD on July 31, 2007. The film's opening was the 24th largest in box office history, although critics were divided over its look and style. Some acclaimed it as an original achievement, while others criticized it for favoring visuals over characterization and its controversial depiction of the ancient Persians.

Poll - Anthrope Agapa / Ela Ilie Mou 7'' Single

Sweet Smoke: Just A Poke ( 1970 ) + Darkness To Light ( 1973 )

Sweet Smoke were a 1960's and 70's progressive jazz-rock band. They incorporated many different influences, such as jazz, funk and island rhythms.
They were originally formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1967, although the band moved to live as a commune in Germany before the decade was out. Their music is one of the most loosely arranged happy-hippy-rock, very "jammy" as well as being very jazz-tinged also.

By Jay Dorfman ( Drums ) Published October 16, 2010 :

" In the late sixties I played drums with a group of Brooklyn friends that metamorphosed into a huge European cult success.
The band’s moniker came from yours truly, originally ‘Sweet Smoke of the Happy Plant Pipeful’, they came to be affectionately referred to as ‘Sweet Smoke’. It was the sixties and these kind of names and concepts and behavior and sociological, psychedelic magic and mystery were going on within you and without you.

By the dawn of the 70?s the band had acquired a sizable following and had moved to Europe where they spent the next years in a van driving though France, Holland, Germany delivering to audiences of quickly expanding sizes a typically 60?s form of rave like musical be-in.

The party was only beginning. They began to open for large European pop bands like Focus and Golden Earring. They were quickly signed to Electrola Records for a 3 Record deal in West Germany and recorded their first hallucinogenic stream of musical consciousness, the quintessential 60?s jam fest Just A Poke.

The fans and the critics were all over it, , a mix of jazz, rock, improv, avant garde, inspired just as much by John Coltrane as it was by The Doors. The cover of the record was a brazen shout out to inner consciousness and a simple downright salute to the fact that the boys had gone cosmic, global and had tuned out, turned on and dropped whatever they could find.
The band kept rollin for years, attracting new players, loosing original members, recording with the highest rung of European free jazz musicians and generally having the time of their lives.

The fun was interrupted when suddenly in the mid 70?s some one got the bright idea they needed to get to know themselves, India, Yoga and Gurus followed, including the majority of the band moving to an ashram in India for close to a year to learn the esoteric art of Yoga and meditation. Some 35 years later the band spent 3 days together to try their hand at playing together again. the keyboardist brother of the bassist quit after the weekend and subsequent sessions were interrupted when the the bassist was called to China to exercise his professional skills, liquidation, this time at a few Home Depot stores in deepest China. "

JUST A POKE is the first album released in 1970, engineered by Conny Plank.

Dexys Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen Single [1982]

"Come On Eileen" was a single released by Dexy's Midnight Runners in 1982. The song was written by Kevin Rowland, "Big" Jim Paterson, and Billy Adams; it was produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley. It originally appeared on the album Too-Rye-Ay. It was their first #1 hit in the United Kingdom since 1980's "Geno".
The song won Best British Single at the 1983 Brit Awards.

The song begins with Celtic-style fiddle played over a drum beat, with the bass guitar and piano providing accompaniment. An extended version has an additional intro of a Celtic fiddle solo, playing Thomas Moore's Irish folk song Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms.
The chorus was loosely inspired by the song "A Man Like Me" by the 1960s British soul group Jimmy James and the Vagabonds.
In the British charts, the song spent four weeks at number one in August 1982. This success was repeated around the globe; spending five weeks as the Kent Report's number one in Australia and reaching number one in April 1983 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

The song reached #18 on VH1's Top 100 Songs of the 1980s.
The song was named #1 on VH1's 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 80s.

Ι DON 'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE LYRICS

I don't know what to do with my life
Should I give it up and make a new start
I don't know what to do with my life
'Cos the one I've got just tears me apart
I can't wake up in the morning
And I can't get to sleep at night
I'm not expecting things to be perfect
But a high success rate would be nice

I don't know what to do with my life
I don't know what to do with my life

I don't know what's gone wrong with my life
But you know I never do seem to win
Whenever I think I've straightened it out
It becomes a vicious circle again
I can't love when anyone loves me
And I can't find the someone to love
But then I start to count my blessings
And I feel I'm getting more than enough

I don't know what to do with my life
I don't know what to do with my life

I don't know what's gone wrong with my life
But you know I never do seem to win
Whenever I think I've straightened it out
It becomes a vicious circle again
I can't love when anyone loves me
And I can't find the someone to love
But then I start to count my blessings
And I feel I'm getting more than enough of love

I don't know what to do with my life
I don't know what to do with my life
I don't know what to do with my life
It's my life
